Alabama’s Success with CASE® + CGLT
In 2025, the CASE Network will more than double the number of CASE-published frameworks available for free to states, districts, and other non-profit organizations. The path to CASE® publishing for each state usually evolves from a technology need or an opportunity for impact.
Read on to learn from one of the issuing agencies that walked this path with CASE® and what they can do now as a result.
Alabama standards before CASE®:
Content standards were stored as PDFs across multiple websites and servers making it difficult for staff to reference or use
Outdated database with no interoperability
Lack of real-time alignment with instruction, assessment, or SIS
Limited access to standards across platforms
Inability to correlate standards with digital tools and assessments
Missed opportunities for statewide instructional alignment
Benefits for Alabama include:
🔍 View National & State Comparisons - Accountability - Compare Alabama standards to NAEP, ACT, and other states
📚 Align Curriculum & Instructional Materials - Ensure alignment with textbooks and instructional resources
📈 Visualize Vertical Progressions - See how learning builds from grade to grade
🔗 Connect Frameworks - Correlate standards to various educational frameworks
🧠 Unpack Standards - Identify knowledge, skills, and understanding to improve planning and assessment
The Importance of CASE®:
CASE replaces inefficient methods of managing and sharing academic standards with a standardized, digital approach. It creates a common language and a trusted source for academic standards, reducing ambiguity and manual effort. CASE also enables systemic agility, allowing for rapid and consistent dissemination and adoption of changes in academic standards
