How can I get my standards into…

Google Classroom, Canvas, PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, MagicSchool‍, School AI, etc.

…and everywhere else?

Short answer: you probably can't do it yourself but you can be the reason it happens.

Read on to learn about how you can advocate as a #CASEchampion to your issuing agency (usually a school district, state, or ministry of education). You can help paint the picture of what is looks like to have the CASE promise fulfilled - where standards are freely available from their source of truth and accessible across the edtech, curriculum, and assessment ecosystem.

What is CASE®, in plain terms?

Right now, your standards probably live as a PDF, a document, or a spreadsheet in a google drive, OneDrive, or even a webpage. That's fine for a human to read, but it's useless in our digital ecosystem. Every platform our schools use (LMS, gradebook, assessment, and curriculum) has to manually convert, re-format or guess how standards should appear in a digital context. The Competencies and Academic Standards Exchange (CASE®) guidelines initiated by 1EdTech™ addresses this challenge by outlining how to manage, associate, format, organize and provide access to standards for everyone’s ease of use. Common Good Learning Tools created a CASE publishing tool called Standards Satchel to implement CASE.

How do standards get into CASE?

Any issuing agency (state, ministry, or district) can convert their standards into CASE by (1) standing up their own CASE server, (2) working with a certified CASE publishing tool (like Satchel), or (3) by paying a company for the service of converting their documents. Translating PDFs, documents and spreadsheets into CASE is our speciality, but our end goal is to train every issuing agency to do it themselves. Whether your organization relies on one spreadsheet wizard, a seasoned AI prompter, a cadre of subject matter experts, or education consultants - we’ve worked with them all! With each of our CASE publishing options we include multiple CASE consultations for your team to get up-to-speed, hands-on practice with at least one free framework conversion, and many batch update tools built-in to the Satchel product.

Where is CASE being used now?

Trusted platforms and nonprofit organizations are already importing, syncing with, or aligning to CASE. Popular CASE consumers include PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Google, Learning Commons, Instructure, CommonLit, Magic School, EdGate and many more. These CASE consumers use the CASE REST APIs and export options from Satchel Rosetta Exchange to keep standards up-to-date, enable reliable in-app searches, facilitate alignment to resources, guide feedback for learning, and when applicable support AI suggestions grounded in source-of-truth standards. Review the gallery below to see what it looks like to fulfill the promise of CASE with issuing agencies establishing of the foundation for teaching and learning in the ecosystem.
